Chocolate Manhattan Cocktail
By Charlotte Voisey
When you think Manhattan, what spirit comes to mind? Most likely it is not tequila. During barrel aging, Añejo Tequila takes on flavors similar to bourbon and rye whiskies and lends itself well to mixing like any other brown spirit.
Recipe
Ingredients
2 parts Milagro Añejo Tequila
1 part Lillet Rouge
bar spoon (1/8 oz) of agave nectar
dash chocolate bitters
Instructions
stir with ice
strain into a cocktail glass
garnish with a orange zest

I love to see you using Lillets and Aperol in your cocktails - I wish more people would do it. Keep up the great work . Your enthusiasm is a bright light and you manage to explain yourself where the layman can understand.
Hey Miss Voisey, love the show. Got a question about the Lillet. How long should you keep it and should it be refregerated like a regular vermouth or fortified?? Also where is the Milagro agave nectar available?? I’m in Lake Placid NY if you know of any local distributors. Thank you.
Neil let me try and help you as I experienced the same issues you are asking about. First, keep the Lillet ( rouge & Blanc) in the fridge, they will last a long time. I began doing this as a result of watching Small Screen - second, Milagro is a brand of Tequila, a good one. The Agave Nectar is a separate item but sold in the better wine & beverage stores. I have a bottle under the name SAUZA who also makes Tequila. I am sure there are others. Best kept cool but not cold.
I think you will have no trouble finding it in Lake Placid area. If not go online to Kegworks.com ,they will have it and the service is fast.
A cocktail using Lillet Rouge ! I don’t see this often but will try this tonight.
I buy agave nectar at Trader Joe’s.
Trader Joes - Thanks, good to know. Even closer.
