DIY Homemade Spiced Vermouth

Infusing vermouth with citrus zests and spices is a great way to customize your vermouth to your tastes or for use in a special cocktail creation. Especially during the holidays, homemade spiced vermouth is a perfectly simple treat for taking your Manhattans up a notch.
Recipe
Ingredients
Spiced Vermouth
4 large pieces of orange peel.
1 large slice of fresh ginger
2 whole allspice
5 whole cloves
10 fresh cranberries
1 oz spiced rum
1 cup sweet red vermouth
Holiday Manhattan Cocktail
2 oz Bourbon
1 oz Spiced Red Vermouth (recipe above)
Dash of Liquid Kitchen Bitters or your favorite bitters
Instructions
Add all ingredients to a suitable glass container.
Allow to sit, refrigerated, for at least two days.
Store refrigerated for up to a month.
Use in any cocktail that calls for red or sweet vermouth.
Holiday Manhattan Cocktail
Measure the bourbon, Spiced Red Vermouth and bitters into a mixing glass.
Fill three-quarters full with ice.
Stir with a bar spoon until well chilled.
Strain into a coup glass.
Garnish with a cherry and a cranberry on a pick.
